Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance to host corporate golf tournament
Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance Company will host an amateur golf tournament for about 100 corporate players at Gokarna Forest Resort on Saturday, with a car for the first hole-in-one on the tenth hole.
Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance Company (SALICO) will host an amateur golf tournament this Saturday, October 31, at the Gokarna Forest Resort golf course in Kathmandu. Around 100 amateur golfers, mostly representatives of Nepal's corporate sector, are expected to take part, the company said.
According to Onlinekhabar, the event aims to build relationships, collaboration and friendship among people from the business community through sport. The one-day tournament will be played on the resort's 18-hole, par-72 championship course, Onlinekhabar and Annapurna Post reported.
Tournament structure and prizes
Because it is a corporate competition, there will be no cash prizes, Neplays and Baahrakhari reported. Instead, awards will go to the winner and runner-up in the men's category and to the best gross score, as well as to the winner and runner-up in the women's category.
Players aged 60 and above will compete for a senior award, and those aged 70 and above for a "super senior" award. According to Neplays, there will also be prizes for most birdies, closest to the pin, longest drive and a "SALICO 30 Years of Trust" category.
Hole-in-one prize
The tournament's main attraction is its hole-in-one prize: the first player to hit a hole-in-one on the par-3 tenth hole will win a Tata Nexon car, Gokarna golf course director Deepak Acharya said, according to Neplays and Baahrakhari.
SALICO announced the details at a press conference on Wednesday at the Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) in Tripureshwor. According to Annapurna Post, the tournament will offer competitive play and attractive prizes alongside a chance for participants to build ties.
SALICO has provided non-life insurance services in Nepal for three decades, Annapurna Post noted.
