A leaderless, student-backed list won Serbia's parliamentary election on Sunday, October 25, 2026, ending 14 years in power for Aleksandar Vučić's Serbian Progressive Party (SNS). Vučić conceded defeat that night. With almost 99% of votes counted, the State Election Commission's provisional figures gave the list 52.7% against 39.2% for the SNS-led alliance; reported seat counts put the list at 139 to 141 of parliament's 250 seats, a clear majority.
The movement grew out of nearly two years of protests after a railway station canopy collapsed in Novi Sad in November 2024, killing 16 people, a disaster widely blamed on corruption. Vučić and his party deny the corruption accusations. The list has no formal leader and has not said whom it will propose as prime minister as it prepares for talks on forming a government. Vučić blamed his defeat on foreign support for the movement; Ukrainian and EU leaders welcomed the result.
