Two months after the August 26 floods in Rasuwa, the district's agricultural sector remains in crisis. In Uttargaya Rural Municipality, the Bhotekoshi River deposited debris across vital rice-growing areas, including Pairebesi and Betrabati. Uttargaya Rural Municipality Chair Madhav Aryal stated that the flooding destroyed crops just before the harvest. Local authorities estimate that 1,806 hectares of agricultural land throughout the district have been damaged, and officials are currently documenting these losses to coordinate relief efforts.
Simultaneously, the destruction of a motorable bridge between Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-5 and Syabrubesi has severed critical supply chains. Farmers in Aamachhodingmo Rural Municipality, who rely on commercial cabbage cultivation, are forced to use dangerous ropeway crossings to move produce. Community leader Phurpu Singi Tamang warned that tens of millions of rupees in revenue are at risk as crops rot without road access. Farmers are demanding the immediate installation of a Bailey bridge. While tourism has begun to recover with the reopening of the Langtang Valley trekking route, the agricultural heartland continues to struggle with these persistent infrastructure challenges.
