The Ministry of Information and Communications has introduced a new grant initiative providing up to Rs 35 million to support films focused on Nepal’s history, culture, and tourism. This program aims to encourage socially conscious storytelling that promotes national unity and sovereignty. Filmmakers and organizations have 21 days from the official notice to apply. Funding is divided into three categories: scriptwriting, production, and post-production, with a maximum of Rs 9.5 million available for any single project. To be eligible, applicants must submit a registered script, work plan, and budget. The ministry requires all films to be shot in 4K with a maximum duration of 90 minutes, while strictly prohibiting the use of artificial intelligence and equipment purchases.
An evaluation committee led by a ministry joint secretary will manage the selection process. Successful projects will receive an initial 20 percent of the grant, with subsequent installments disbursed based on Film Development Board conditions.
