Home Minister Sudhan Gurung on Saturday, October 31 (Kartik 14), told Department of Roads staff to restart the stalled construction of the Phurkekhola bridge, which links Dhadingbesi to the highway, after residents he met in Dhading on his way to Gorkha complained that the delay had made travel difficult, Nagarik and Onlinekhabar reported. He also asked officials to coordinate with the government to resolve the problems holding up the work.
The old concrete bridge, which connects eight of Dhading's local governments to the national highway, was one of four bridges across the Trishuli swept away by the Bhote Koshi flood of August 26 (Bhadau 10), cutting the road between Dhadingbesi and the Prithvi Highway, according to Nepal Samaya. Local governments say a temporary pontoon bridge is in its final stage. In Gorkha's Gandaki Rural Municipality, where farmers told Gurung their vegetables rot without a bridge to market, he said the process to build a concrete bridge at Jyamireghat was under way (Nepal Press, Khabarhub).
In Manang, timber has been laid over the beams of the bridge across the Marsyangdi at Chame, damaged by a flood on September 27 (Asoj 11), so that vehicles and people can cross, Nepal Bahas reported on October 28.
