The Teacher Service Commission (TSC) has restarted the review process for promotion complaints affecting approximately 6,000 educators nationwide. This administrative backlog, which had been frozen for six months due to a leadership vacancy, is now moving forward following the government’s appointment of Dr. Hari Prasad Lamsal as commission chairperson on September 10, 2026. The commission had previously been without leadership following the enactment of the Special Provision Regarding Removal of Public Officials Ordinance, 2083, in May.
TSC spokesperson Parashuram Tiwari stated that the commission is systematically releasing updated merit lists based on performance evaluations, which constitute 75 percent of the promotion criteria. These reviews are being conducted under the Teacher Service Commission Operational Procedure, 2078. Recent results have been published for secondary level teachers in Ilam, Sunsari, Jhapa, and Solukhumbu, as well as primary level educators across several districts including Kaski and Gorkha. The commission expects to finalize remaining district results in the coming weeks.
