Two pedestrian skywalks have been completed in the Mahendranagar Bazaar area of Dhanusha, representing the first infrastructure of this type within Madhesh Province. Located at Mahila Bikas Chowk and Sakhuwa Chowk, these bridges are part of a broader initiative by the Road Division Office in Mujeliya to enhance pedestrian safety along the busy six-lane commercial road connecting Janakpurdham and Dhalkebar. The structures are currently receiving final aesthetic finishes and are expected to open for public use soon.
The project includes a third bridge under construction in Laxminia Rural Municipality, which Divisional Engineer Darogaprasad Sah expects to be finished by the end of Mangsir. With a total budget of Rs 105 million, the bridges are designed to accommodate heavy foot traffic near schools and markets. Local traffic police and community members have welcomed the infrastructure, noting that the bridges will provide a safer crossing for residents in an area that serves as a key entry point to Janakpurdham.
