Four charged in Jajarkot school library fund embezzlement case
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority has filed a corruption case at the Special Court against four people accused of misusing library grants at a school in Jajarkot.
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case at the Special Court in Kathmandu against four people accused of misappropriating library grant money at Mannedhunga Secondary School in Kushe Rural Municipality-2, Jajarkot. The case was filed on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
According to the commission, as reported by Nagarik and Gorkhapatra, the former chairman of the school management committee, Harichandra Jaisi, former headmaster Dhan Bahadur Singh and former accounting assistant Dhirendra Bahadur Singh are accused of embezzling Rs 1,741,446. The commission alleges that they acted in collusion, showing the grant money as loans taken against the law, with the intent of causing loss to a public institution. It has claimed Rs 1,741,446 from each of the three.
The CIAA has also claimed Rs 100,000 from Janak Bahadur Nepali, a member of the school management committee. The commission said the acts amount to an offence under Section 17 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059.
The case followed a complaint to the commission that school officials and staff had borrowed library grants the school received from the District Education Office and never paid them back. Shilapatra reported that the grants covered the fiscal years 2071/72 to 2073/74; Canada Nepal referred to fiscal year 2073/74. The four have been charged; the Special Court has yet to rule.
