Raksha Bam says RSP-led government 'smells of Panchayat' after journalist arrests
Gen Z activist Raksha Bam wrote on Facebook that the RSP-led government smells of Panchayat-era politics, accusing the party of intimidating journalists as reporters were being arrested.
Gen Z activist Raksha Bam has criticised the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and its chairman, Rabi Lamichhane, saying the RSP-led government "smells of Panchayat-era politics". She wrote it in a Facebook post on Friday, October 30, in protest at the arrest of journalists, according to Onlinekhabar and Shilapatra.
In the post, as reported by Nagarik, Onlinekhabar and Shilapatra, Bam told Lamichhane that his party no longer needed to raise the slogan of good governance.
She accused the party of intimidating the press, pointing to times when, in her words, its own cadres parked vehicles across the front of media houses, and when people went inside media houses to frighten journalists. She closed the post with a sarcastic "Wow, your good governance!"
Shilapatra reported that Bam wrote the post after police began picking up journalists from media houses. Khabarhub reported her accusation that this way of interfering with media houses had made a mockery of good governance.
