A meeting of secretaries in Singha Durbar directed ministries to carry out the annual work plan on schedule, step up festive-season market monitoring and set up single-point services.
The government has directed all ministries and government bodies to carry out the annual work plan and the policies and programs for the current fiscal year 2083/84 effectively. The decision came from a meeting of secretaries held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar on Monday, November 2, 2026 (Kartik 16, 2083), according to Nagarik News, Annapurna Post and Ratopati.
The meeting was chaired by the Chief Secretary. According to Nagarik News and Annapurna Post, it decided that a detailed implementation plan be prepared for the government's annual work plan and carried out within set timeframes. Shilapatra reported beforehand that the office had called the meeting for 9 am in the Sagarmatha Hall, with an agenda covering the state of implementation of government decisions, progress so far this fiscal year, the settling of arrears, and security and market monitoring around the festivals.
The meeting directed that action plans be drawn up to settle and reduce the arrears noted in the Auditor General's report, and that intensive market monitoring be carried out to control consumer fraud, adulteration of goods and artificial shortages. Ratopati reported that it also decided to intensify market monitoring ahead of the festivals and to direct the ministries concerned to act strictly to control black marketing.
According to Annapurna Post, the meeting also decided that offices dealing directly with citizens should provide a "single-point service", so that people receive services in a simple, convenient and effective way.
It further decided to put into effect the 2083 regulations on simplifying and digitizing the government's decision-making process, and to give priority to domestic products in public procurement.
With Tihar and Chhath approaching, the meeting decided to keep peace and security tight during the festivals.
