The 174 workers of Everest Paper Mills Pvt Ltd have been paid Rs 63.66 million in wages and benefits they were owed, the labour ministry said. The payments were made by several cheques on October 16, under a Labour Court order and an agreement reached at the District Administration Office in Dhanusha. The total covers Rs 58.66 million the court had ordered paid, plus the workers' salaries for August and September.
The Labour Court ordered the company's bank accounts released for the payment on March 31, 2026, but the company still did not pay, and the workers petitioned the court again alleging contempt. On September 11 the bank accounts, assets and shares of the company's shareholders were frozen again. The ministry said the payments have now put the agreement and the court's decision fully into effect.
