Dr Bärbel Kofler, Parliamentary State Secretary to Germany's Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, is on a four-day official visit to Nepal from October 28 to 31. According to the German Embassy in Kathmandu, the visit focuses on development cooperation, women's rights, health and the impact of the Bhotekoshi flood. The embassy said Germany has provided 11.061 million euros for the flood response, for immediate humanitarian assistance and for restoring and rebuilding health and energy infrastructure in the affected area.
Her programme includes a visit to flood-hit Nuwakot district to meet local officials, health workers and affected residents, and visits to German-supported health facilities in Kathmandu. Her meetings with the government, civil society and development partners are also to cover Nepal's development challenges, including last year's Gen-Z protests and transitional justice.
