Dry landslides have kept falling since Tuesday morning at Kyrak in Chumnubri Rural Municipality-5, in the Manaslu region of northern Gorkha. Ward chairperson Kalden Chhewang Lama said on Wednesday, November 4, that debris more than 300 meters long runs from the Sakima hill to the Serang stream, on the trail to Serang Gumba, and that residents could not inspect it because it was still falling. About 400 people at the monastery, including around 200 students and 200 lama teachers and elderly residents, face difficulty getting rations and other supplies, he said.
Separately, The Kathmandu Post reported that a landslide near Larke Bazar in Samdo, Chumnubri-1, has dammed the Dhindhur River and formed a shallow lake of about 500 square meters. Bhuwan Ojha, information officer at the Manaslu Conservation Area Project, said water is still flowing from the lake and there is no immediate risk of a sudden breach, but he urged residents to remain alert.
