Nagdhunga tunnel to charge vehicles a toll from November 1
Vehicles using the Nagdhunga tunnel will pay a road usage fee from November 1, ranging from Rs 60 to Rs 600 by vehicle type and direction, the tunnel project said.
Vehicles using the Nagdhunga tunnel will have to pay a road usage fee from Sunday, November 1, according to a public notice issued by the Nagdhunga Tunnel Construction Project. The project said the charge follows a September 28 decision by the executive committee of the Road Board Nepal and a notice published in the Nepal Gazette on April 9, 2026 (Chaitra 26, 2082).
Fees by vehicle category
The rates depend on the type of vehicle and the direction of travel, with entry into Kathmandu costing more than leaving it. Cars, vans, pickups, tractors, microbuses and other light vehicles will pay Rs 65 to enter Kathmandu through the tunnel and Rs 60 to leave the valley, according to the notice as reported by Onlinekhabar and Nagarik.
Minibuses and mini-tippers or mini-trucks will pay Rs 115 to enter Kathmandu and Rs 80 to leave. Buses and trucks will be charged Rs 260 on the way in and Rs 200 on the way out, Onlinekhabar reported. Multi-axle trucks and vehicles carrying heavy equipment face the highest rates: Rs 600 to enter and Rs 250 to exit.
