Global IME Bank Limited has begun building a new corporate headquarters at Uttar Dhoka in Kathmandu. Bank Chair Chandra Prasad Dhakal laid the foundation stone on November 6, 2026. The bank estimates the project, structure and interiors together, at Rs 3 billion and aims to finish within three years. It says the building will bring its central departments, now working from separate locations, under one roof.
Reports differ slightly on the size: Makalu Khabar, Clickmandu and Karobar Daily give about 145,000 square feet of built-up area, while Bizmandu, citing the bank, gives about 146,000 square feet over 12 floors. According to Bizmandu, the design includes secant piling for ground stability, rainwater harvesting and a solar energy system. Chief Executive Officer Surendra Raj Regmi said the building would be more technologically advanced than the head offices of the commercial banks now operating in Nepal.
