Tribhuvan International Airport installs live baggage tracking feeds
Tribhuvan International Airport has launched a live video feed in the arrival hall, allowing passengers to track their luggage from the baggage drop area.
International passengers arriving at Tribhuvan International Airport can now monitor the progress of their luggage through new live video feeds installed within the baggage claim area. The initiative, which went live on Friday, November 6, 2026, aims to provide travelers with real-time visibility into the baggage handling process.
According to reports from Clickmandu, Nagarik News, Onlinekhabar, and Gorkhapatra, the system allows passengers to view the baggage drop area directly from the arrival hall. Officials expect this transparency to reduce the uncertainty often associated with waiting for checked items to appear on the carousel. By observing the activity behind the scenes, travelers can better estimate the time required for their belongings to reach the terminal.
This project was initiated under the direction of Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Khadakraj Paudel 'Ganesh'. The ministry has framed the installation as part of a broader effort to modernize airport services, improve passenger convenience, and align the facility with international standards.
Prior to this update, passengers had no access to information regarding the status of their luggage once it left the aircraft, frequently leading to confusion and frustration in the arrivals area. The airport authority stated that this move is intended to make the waiting experience more organized and efficient.
This technological upgrade is the latest in a series of service improvements pushed by Minister Paudel, who has prioritized the integration of digital tools to enhance the overall passenger experience at Nepal's primary international gateway. The move is being presented as a step toward greater transparency in airport operations, ensuring that travelers are kept informed about the movement of their property from the tarmac to the baggage claim belt.
