Frequently asked questions
How do I type in Nepali Unicode?
Type each word as it sounds, letter by letter, in the Roman box: mero desh nepaal ho. becomes मेरो देश नेपाल हो। Copy the Nepali with the button above its box. Every key is in the table below.
How do I type a long vowel or a joined letter?
Double the vowel for the long one: aa for ा, ee for ी, oo for ू. Two consonants with no vowel between them join, so kshetra is क्षेत्र. Type a between them to keep them apart: kamal is कमल.
Why do capital letters matter?
T, Th, D, Dh, N and Sh are ट ठ ड ढ ण ष; t, th, d, dh, n and sh are त थ द ध न श. Every other key is the same in either case. An N that begins a word is न, since no Nepali word begins with ण.
How do I keep an English word in English?
Put it in curly brackets: {Facebook} maa becomes Facebook मा.
