Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane arrived in Chitwan on Thursday, November 5, for party meetings and a visit, planned for Friday morning, to eroding riverbank areas along the Narayani River. Speaking to journalists at Bharatpur Airport, he said that although he had come late to Chitwan, policy work was under way there, and that in his thinking the system should come before the individual.
Asked about the party's relationship with the government, Lamichhane said, as reported by Nagarik News and Setopati, that the RSP does not see it as its job to endorse every government decision; its role, he said, is to keep watch, ask questions and seek clarity. On the reshuffle of the Inspector General of Police, he said security-related decisions are sensitive and that justifying them is the government's responsibility, and that the party has asked the government for an explanation. He said there is no lack of coordination between the party and the government, and that raising questions should not be read as conflict between them.
